David W. Sill 1968 - 2019

David W. Sill, 51, of Floyd, passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at his home with his loving family by his side.

He was born on February 3, 1968 in Albany, the son of Wendy (VanValkenburgh) Sill. David was a graduate of Albany Schools and then achieved an associate degree from MVCC. On September 12, 1998, he was united in marriage to Diane C. Curran in St. Mary’s Church, New York Mills and shared a blessed union of more than 20 years. David was employed as a residential aide with both CNY Psychiatric Center and United Cerebral Palsy and most recently with Presbyterian Residential Community as the residential supervisor. He was a member and Eucharistic Minister of the Church of Sacred Heart & St. Mary’s Our Lady of Czestochowa. David was an EMT with COCVAC for 19 years and received the 2008 Deb Hurt Award and 2008 EMS Educator of Excellence. He was also a coach for AYSO Girls’ Soccer and started the original “Orange Crush” team, which still lives to this day and he was also an instructor with AMC Karate.

Surviving are his loving wife, Diane; daughters, Samantha and Elizabeth Sill; sons, Samuel and Dakota Sill and Joseph Curran. He was predeceased by his mother, Wendy; mother-in-law, Lorraine Curran; Aunt Shirley Brown and cousin, Randall Brown.

David’s family would like to extend their gratitude to his St. Luke’s PCU Nurses, Jaime and Winnie and Dr. Megan Baumgart and Dr. Yuhchyau Chen at the Wilmot Cancer Center in Rochester for all their care and compassion. Most of all, a heartfelt thank you to our COCVAC Family for all their support, guidance, love and for helping us fulfill his final wish to bring David home. Diane would like to express her sincerest appreciation to Erin (COCVAC), Linda and Cathy for helping her find strength to make it through David’s final days.

Relatives and friends are invited to visitation on Tuesday, from 4-6 pm at Dimbleby Funeral Homes, Inc., 40 Main St., Whitesboro. Funeral services will commence at the conclusion of visitation at 6 pm.

In lieu of flowers, please consider David’s wish for donations to a college fund for his 4 children. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
